Dog owners all over the world have the a common problem and that is biting. You might assume that adorable dogs like Poodles wouldn't bite, but you're wrong. This will make sure that it is provided the time it needs to learn how to restrain its urges to display dominance and not to bite.
After 8 weeks, you can start to associate the dog with your family and with other pups. You can also try going to bite aversion sessions or puppy day cares. And always keep in mind that Poodle pups must never be scolded because early aggression can create behavior difficulties as they grow older.
You should also remember not to let your pup to bite. You can give the pup a toy when they bite you or you can make soft whimpering noises to show them that what they are carrying out hurts you.
Poodle Biting in Mature Dogs
If your Poodle is still biting or nipping when it's aged, you need to make sure you have complete control of your dog. Firstly, you have to make sure that you prove them that you are the alpha leader. Handle feeding times, walking times, and teach your dog some fundamental commands. And also keep in mind not to hesitate when giving commands and steer clear of any games such as wrestling, tug of war, and chasing that can lead to biting simply because this will make the behavior into a game that seeks attention.
You can take your poodle to an obedience workshop when they show aggressive behavior or fear and anxiety related behavior. This will help them interact with other dogs and help them take care of their aggression problems in a controlled environment.
But if your poodle biting dilemma grows more hazardous, consider employing an expert or visit your veterinarian to rule out any potential medical causes to their biting.
So keep in mind, that biting from your Poodle is never tolerable. You have to take care of it quickly because it can be of a greater behavior issues under the surface and may develop into a more risky issue when your poodle gets older.
